There are many critics of the s.n.p. in government. Some justified, some not. In some cases if the s.n.p. say black the critics say white. Is this a response to the fear of independence? The reason the s.n.p exist is after all for an independent Scotland.Yet you hear critics say they are obsessed with a referendum on independence. What do they expect. If the they make mistakes in government (as all governments do). That is not a reason surely for not wanting a free Scotland.I cannot think of a country in recent years that wanted independence from its larger neighbour that the British state dd not support.(The break up of the Soviet union). So what is so different about Scotland.

  1. The difference is of course that with Scottish independence, everything changes. The media, civil servants and all who have a vested in the continuation of the British state will need to very quickly develop a new world view and a new way of relating to the world and their pals to the North.
