the tories if they win the next westminster elections are to make the restoration of fox hunting a priority if reports are accurate.i would have thought there are more pressing issues like the economy, unemployment and the like that are more important.should labour not be telling the tories this.in scotland they are quick to tell the s.n.p. this when a vote on scottish independence is mentioned.labour and other unionist parties tell us this is not a good time for such things.when may i ask is a good time? i would have thought it is a wee bit more important than restoring fox hunting.

glasgow n.e.
the s.n.p. let labour fight glasgow n.e. on their own terms.you would have thought that labour were the party in opposition.which as we know is not the case in westminster.it is difficult possibly for the s.n.p.in such cases but did you hear the benefits of independence getting much of a mention or westminster cutbacks to scotland.there does appears however to have been a bit of 'get the locals to fight amongst themselves' going on with the edinburgh s.n.p. thing.british governments have used this with their colonies in the past and we fell for it again. yes the s.n.p. stopped the glasgow rail link but the also stopped the edinburgh one some months ago and would stopped the edinburgh trams if they had had their way.(all three of of that i would have liked to go ahead).anyway onward and upward.lessons can be learned.

lisbon treaty
the lisbon treaty is almost upon us. not a particular problem? i think the unionists however will be over the moon with a bigger state looking over us and keeping us safe. same as the u.k.only larger. but will they see it that way? not so sure. i have often found it difficult to understand how their arguements against independence for scotland are turned when arguing agaist a closer e.u.

reflecting
walking through edinburgh last week.the castle princess st. the sun was shinning a warm autumn day.heard a few languages from other parts of europe and beyond.yes edinburgh felt like a european capital city which it should be and scotland deserves.

There are many critics of the s.n.p. in government. Some justified, some not. In some cases if the s.n.p. say black the critics say white. Is this a response to the fear of independence? The reason the s.n.p exist is after all for an independent Scotland.Yet you hear critics say they are obsessed with a referendum on independence. What do they expect. If the they make mistakes in government (as all governments do). That is not a reason surely for not wanting a free Scotland.I cannot think of a country in recent years that wanted independence from its larger neighbour that the British state dd not support.(The break up of the Soviet union). So what is so different about Scotland.

media support
Is there anywhere in the mainstream Scottish media that supports an independent Scotland? i have been searching the net for sometime now with little success. If the polls are to be believed
there is at least a 1/3 of the population in favour of independence. This is not reflected in the media.I understand in Catalan for example there is at least some media support for the equivalent of the s.n.p.The language used in certain media outlets is often gruding at best in describing the benefits of a free scotland. The benefits of independece are constantly having to be proved.Yet the same is rarely asked of the benefits of the union with the rest of the u.k. compared say to a closer union with the e.u.
